Got a question? We can help.

What are your hours of operation?

Pedal Express is open Monday through Friday, from 9am 'til 5pm. Rain or shine.

How do I pay for my delivery?

Call us old-school, but we prefer payment via check. Regular clients are sent monthly invoices. Everyone else will be sent an invoice via email soon after completion of your delivery. Send payment to PO Box 10141, Berkeley CA 94709. If you prefer, we can bill you via PayPal (processing fees will apply).

How much does a delivery cost?

Our rates are determined by the pickup/drop off location and delivery speed. Weight surcharges added for items weighing in excess of 20 pounds. Other surcharges may apply. Discount pricing is offered for frequent and/or regularly scheduled deliveries. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to give us a call.

Are you licensed and insured?

Absolutely. We carry full liability insurance in compliance with all industry standards.

What do you deliver?

All kinds of stuff! In addition to mail, documents, design proofs, and bank deposits, we deliver fresh baked bread, CSA boxes, catered lunches and cargo up to 150 pounds. If you'd like something large or out of the ordinary delivered, give us a call and we'd be happy to give you a quote.

Where do you deliver to?

We deliver in all of Berkeley, Emeryville, and most of Oakland. We can also deliver to San Francisco and other locations within 1 mile of a BART station.

How do I properly prepare my delivery?

Please package your items as if you were mailing them! Include the following information with your item: Recipient’s name and complete address (including zip code and suite number, if applicable). Phone numbers are very helpful. The more information, the better.

Can I get daily or weekly deliveries?

Regularly scheduled deliveries are our specialty and are eligible for discount pricing. We operate an extensive route system throughout Oakland, Berkeley and Emeryville. We can incorporate your regular distribution needs, as frequently as you require.

What surcharges may apply?

Additional fees may apply for the following: Parcels weighing over 20 pounds. Packages over 24 inches. Deliveries that require more than five minutes of wait time. Deliveries requiring multiple stops. Wrong addresses and last-minute cancellations will also incur an additional fee.

What does "Worker Cooperative" mean?

It means that the people who work at Pedal Express own it too, and share in the attendant responsibilities, benefits and risks . Our business is non-hierarchical and decisions are made by all of our worker-owners using a consensus model. The fact that the owners themselves are doing the work creates high standards for ourselves. It's like if the CEO of UPS was doing deliveries personally.

So, you really don't use cars?

Nope. Pedal Express has been making deliveries exclusively by bicycle since our inception in 1994. Not only do bicycles present the fastest way to get around the East Bay, they also provide us with an efficient and environmentally-friendly way to move your parcels from point A to point B.
